Title: Architecture as a Research

I organised the 2023 Manifesto PhD Conference at the University of Sheffield with two other PGR representatives from the Sheffield School of Architecture. Held on 26–27 June 2023 on Floor 13 of the Arts Tower, the conference was a two-day internal doctoral research event that brought together PhD researchers in Architecture, Landscape, and Urban Design to explore key issues, emerging ideas, and current developments in their research.

The conference provided a platform to showcase ongoing research within the school’s postgraduate research community, while encouraging visibility, dialogue, feedback, and the exchange of ideas. The first day featured panel presentations, where PhD students presented their research to peers and the wider research community. The second day offered hands-on workshops on research methodology and research writing, providing opportunities for skills development, experimentation, and collaborative learning.

The event included 16 PGR presenters, three internal and external keynote speakers, and two workshop leaders, making it a dynamic and engaging forum for interdisciplinary discussion and academic exchange. As one of the organisers, I worked with two other PGR representatives to coordinate and deliver the conference, supporting an event that strengthened the visibility of doctoral research within the school and created opportunities for meaningful scholarly interaction.
